About My Classes
My name is Sam Alexander-Vasey and I am delighted to be joining the teaching team at Yorkshire Yoga.
I am a yoga teacher, immersive workshop leader, reiki practitioner, mentor and coach. I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance and completed my initial yoga teacher training at a beautiful residential training school in Rishikesh, India with a holistic curriculum covering meditation, breathing techniques, physical yoga postures, philosophy, anatomy, yogic nutrition and Ayurvedic health.
I am particularly interested in exploring how yogic principles, practices and lifestyle can be used in the West as a way of creating greater peace, fulfilment, belonging and joy in a world that sometimes feels set up to put these things perpetually just beyond our reach.
My classes at Yorkshire Yoga are all based around classical Hatha Yoga postures and sequences, with a strong focus on calming the mind and replenishing the body. All my classes and workshops are designed to be accessible for all abilities and everyone from experienced yogis to complete beginners are welcome. Full instruction is given for all postures and more advanced versions are available for those wanting to go deeper. The only requirement is an open mind and a curious spirit to explore how the ancient practice of yoga can support you to flourish in the modern world.
I am particularly excited to be teaching classes at Yorkshire Yoga, which is the place I attended my first ever yoga class 7 years ago. Since then, I have practiced yoga all over the world and been taught by dozens of different teachers, learning new styles, postures and growing my understanding and passion for yoga. It feels wonderful to be coming back to the place it all began and I cannot wait to share the things I have learned through my weekly classes and monthly workshops. See you on the mat!
