About the Mindful Yoga class:
In this Mindful Yoga class we practice gentle yoga postures and sequences to unwind tension from the body. We use the breath to energize or relax and use the awareness of both body and breath to stay present.
We practice key mindfulness meditations to bring our minds into the present moment and to become familiar with the meditations so that participants can develop their own home practice if they wish.
Alongside mindfulness we become familiar with compassion practices to develop an attitude of kindliness (particularly towards ourselves). We also develop informal practices to support our mindfulness in everyday life.
We always do a body scan or a relaxation at the end of the class.
The group is a safe and supportive space where we can share thoughts about our practice if we wish.
The class is suitable for those new to yoga and meditation or for more experienced practitioners who would like the support of attending a group.
Caroline, the teacher, is both a qualified yoga instructor (BWY) and a Mindfulness Association accredited teacher.
Mindfulness meditation is a way of paying attention to, and seeing clearly whatever is happening in our lives. It helps to reduce stress as well as to develop more focus and mental clarity. It has a beneficial effect on our working practices and relationships.
What is it?
Combining non-religious meditation, breathing techniques, paying attention to the present moment, as well as developing positive thinking and clarity of mind, mindfulness helps people change the way they think, feel and act.
What are the benefits?
Meditation and mindfulness can help bring about a natural sense of peace and well-being that can extend to every aspect of our lives. People who meditate regularly tend to sleep better, handle the ups and downs of daily life with more clarity and ease and relate to others with more compassion and warmth.
